Nepalese Association of Indiana (NAI) is a non-profit organization which is registered under the Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code and operates to fulfil the goals and objectives outlined by its bylaws. It was established in 2010 with an objective to promote Nepali culture and brotherhood among the people of Nepali origin.
NAI holds its general assembly in every two years and elects its Executive Committee for a two year term to execute its goals and objectives. This current Executive Committee serves as a fifth elected executive team, and will function in accordance with the NAI bylaws and aspiration of its general and life-members for a two year term (2019-2020).
Throughout the year, NAI organizes a number of educational, social, cultural and sports activities. These activities allow the community members to get together and share their experiences, celebrate festivals and discuss difficulties faced by community members in their day to day life. Cultural, sports and poetry recitation events provide opportunities for the members, especially the younger ones, to show case their talent and learn from each other.
NAI and its members provided donations to Hindu Temple of Central Indiana, provided cloths, food and monetary support to Julian Center at Indianapolis and provided monetary support to an Eye Hospital in Nepal, and recently provided monetary and medical support to the victims of devastating earthquake in Nepal. NAI and its members have been providing information and other support to help them find a place in Indiana to the individuals and families who move to Indiana from Nepal or from other parts of the USA. For effective and transparent communication, we have been keeping the community members abreast of NAI’s activities and financial updates through its official website indiananepali.org, newsletter, and dissemination of information through NAI emails to the members.
