The Nepali New year, also known as Navavarsha, usually falls in mid-April of English calendar and is a public holiday in Nepal. This is the time of the year when Nepalese people make a new resolution and celebrate the start of the year with their friends and family over delicious food and drinks.
The Nepali New Year’s celebration consist of dances, parades, and reunions. During this time of the year, people in Nepal plan for picnic, tour/travel along with gathering with friends and families with musical/cultural night and food. These activities bring unity among Nepalese community despite linguistic, cultural, and historical diversity.
NAI hosts a cultural program every year for the community to celebrate the new year.
